A permanent engagement in Las Vegas is the civil servant job for artists and secures the income, even if the zenith of creativity has long been exceeded. The fact that Elton John took such a job seems questionable; but what he makes of it is remarkable. Where the voice of the British, who has now dropped by a fifth, no longer shines, the fiery red piano and the projected films from the genre "Kitsch and Popart" act as a distraction tactic. The video for "Rocket Man", in which Justin Timberlake embodies the young Elton, the phenomenal pole dance by sex icon Pam Anderson for "Bitch is back" and lots of bare skin give the live act a lot of spice. The 50-minute documentary with endless repetitions from the concert film is unfortunately only a boring self-adulation. But there are all large-screen projections separately, underlaid with good dts sound. The DVD shows: The expiration date of this gifted artist never seems to expire - if only because he adds the necessary portion of preservatives in good time.
