"The band is as refreshing as ever, flowing, relaxed, harmonious, perfect and unpretentious. This is the rock of eternity. This is how immortal songwriting sounds, "wrote an Australian editor, after seeing The Eagles live on their Farewell I tour in November 2004. And in fact, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh, 30 years after the founding of the most phenomenal rock band in the US, have been as powerful as ever, and more sovereign than ever before.
"The older they get, the better the songs sound," explains Glenn Frey. But it's like this: classic does not age, it ripens, and timelessness belongs to the Eagles like the "hotel" to the "California".
In Melbourne, the Eagles played a legendary repertoire of 29 hits over three nights on 14, 15 and 17 November 2004. On the program there was everything the fan could have waited for: In addition to some new composers, there was The Long Run, One Of These Nights, The Boys Of Summer, Take It To The Limit, Hotel California 30 years of songwriting. The audience was enthusiastic and unified music fans from at least three generations. Farewell I Tour - Live from Melbourne offers nearly three hours of top-notch live entertainment, just as a band with the experience and routine of the Eagles can bring to the stage.
Already in 2005, the double DVD version of the compelling live package was released, which, in addition to 30 songs, also contains an 11-minute interview with the band. In the now available Blu-Ray version, optics and sound are once again clearly added. Recorded in the DTS Master Audio 5.1 process, the Blu-Ray version now comes with a disc. The linear PCM format is expected in a 48K 24-bit resolution while the 16: 9 aspect ratio is 1080i 59.94. The Blu-Ray version does not contain subtitles, the total playing time is nearly 3 hours.
A whole generation of music fans have grown up with the Eagles in the 70s. Originally part of the backing band of vocal legend Linda Ronstadt, singer / drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glenn Frey, together with Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon, formed the Eagles in September 1971. Although none of them came from California, they quickly became the epitome of the Californian West Coast rock. Around 1974, Joe Walsh joined the band and missed the Eagles with his guitar playing the rocking character, which should ensure their rocketlike success. Above all, the albums Greatest Hits 1971-1975 and Hotel California (1976) were world-famous and are among the best-selling albums of all times by the RIAA, the record industry association of America. Four Grammy Awards were given to the Eagles, before the individual band members turned to soloprojects in 1982. In 1990, Henley and Frey again began to write songs, and in 1994 they went on a fulminant Reunion tour.
At the time of the recording, the Eagles consisted of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmitt, and Joe Walsh. On the Farewell I tour they were accompanied by eight other musicians.
