With "Return To Ommadawn", Mike Oldfield released not only his 26th studio album in 2017, but also the continuation of his 1975 "Ommadawn".
After many of his fans in the social media demanded a new album in the acoustic style of his first three records, the British musician decided to continue the most popular of them. He returned in the truest sense to Ommadawn.
The multi-instrumentalist Oldfield began working on "Return To Ommadawn" in December 2015. The two monumental tracks "Return To Ommadawn" Part 1 and 2 were created in complete self-government. A year later, in November 2016, the new album was finished.
In addition to the standard CD and an LP version, "Return To Ommadawn" is also available as a limited edition with the CD and a DVD audio with a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.
With his new album, Mike Oldfield returns 2017 a bit to its beginnings. "Return To Ommadawn" is the impressive sequel to his legendary third studio album.
