name a few. Once again, Wyclef collaborates on production with his long-time
production partner, Jerry Duplessis, whom he has worked with since the beginning
of the Fugees.ht viel zu spüren ist, sowie City Boy, A.C.T.,
Beardfish und Saga, wovon, na ja, eine Ahnung existiert. Aber City Boy? Wären
die Beach Boys nicht nahe liegender? Egal!
7 Songs sind auf der CD, die so lang wie alte LPs ist, 4 Achtminüter ragen wie
Denkmäler daraus hervor, die drei Kürzlinge verblassen daneben nicht.
Knackfrische, gut angehärtete Gitarrenarbeit, wohl akzentuierte und die Songs
immer wieder nett zerhackende Rhythmen wissen gute Basis zu geben. Die
Keyboards bestimmen das melodische Geschehen, vom erstaunlich melodisch
gespielten Bass, der dabei die Ruhe behält und etwas im Off steht,
hervorragend begleitet. Die Gitarre füllt ihren Teil in den Vokalpassagen
melodisch ergänzend aus, während die Ausgestaltung der Instrumentalteile für
alle Beteiligten komplizierter wird und die Gitarre lauter und rifflastiger
reagiert.
Besonders gefallen mir, was Mathias Beckius und Markus Nilsson machen, auch
Christer Ugglin weiß, seinen Part zu gestalten. Marcus Enochsson geht während
der Texte etwas unter, was Calle Lennartsson auch schon mal passiert.
"Soniq Circus" ist trotz aller kleinen Fehlerchen und Pannen ein gelungenes,
und vor allem äußerst sympathisches Symphonic Prog Werk. Progress Records
haben ein Händchen für die Akteure in ihrem Land, so richtig blass war hier
noch keine Combo, nicht wahr? Andreas Dimeo was recruited for OPETH’s debut gig, comprising just two songs, supporting THERION, EXCRUCIATE and AUTHORISE in February 1991. However, shortly after both Dimeo and Döring decamped quickly after.
