Die Könige der genial-schrägen "Künstlernamen" Rabbi Rob (g.), Stikki Nikki (dr.), Easy Rydstrom (b.), Reverend Sorethroat (voc.) und Snejken (g./mandolin/banjo) spielen genau den Sound, der Fans von beispielsweise MOLLY HATCHET, GOV'T MULE oder BLACK LABEL SOCIETY über alles lieben und fügen ihren Songs eine feine Prise Humor hinzu und treffen damit wohl nicht nur meinen Geschmack ziemlich genau. Kurz und knapp: BACKDRAFT sind Southern Rock vom Feinsten! Yeah!h im Blastbeattempo loszulegen, innerhalb von zwei Minuten ungefähr 18 Mal das Tempo zu wechseln und dennoch schlüssig zu klingen. "Black Halo!" sorgt anschließend mit Tribalrhythmik und interessanten Melodien für ordentliche Grooves. Was die paar deutschen Worte da drin sollen, ist auf Anhieb nicht so leicht zu erkennen.

Das druckvolle "As Truth Becomes Vain" glänzt eingangs mit jeder Menge guter Melodien, doch wenn man von ordentlich Druck redet, sollte man "The Iron Council" nicht vergessen, bei dem vor allem Drummer Nick Wachsmuth Höchstarbeit leistet. Das abschließende "Some Goodbyes Are Farewells" beginnt zunächst als akustischer Ruhepol, in den tiefer, klarer Sprechgesang einsetzt. Das Tempo bleibt durchgehend fast balladesk, doch der Ton nimmt zum Refrain an Schärfe zu.

Keine Frage, dass Maroon mit "The Cold Heart Of The Sun" ihr bis dato bestes Werk abgeliefert haben. Wenn sie vielleicht noch die ein oder andere Hook einbauen, die sich auf Ewigkeiten in den Gehörgängen fest brennt, sind hier noch alle Möglichkeiten offen., HOLLOW is that such CD. Recent finished the record, David, keyboards from Empyrica, decides to become a band member, of course he's wellcome... :)

By incompatibilities between works and band, (really true, :), two members had to leave the band, Migue (Drums) and Edu (Bass).

That same year Scheepers guested on the F.B.I. mini-album 'Hell On Wheels'.

Stunningly, Ralf Scheepers departed the group in 1994 after the rest of the band discovered he had applied for the job as vocalist for JUDAS PRIEST.
