HinweiseDimitri from Paris continues the Playboy journey, mixing up original and rare Blockparty gems with Japan’s DJ Muro (legendary Krush Posse) 2 discs packed full of original Dimitri edits. Back in the day at the dawn of modern urban street sound, there were parties in the bouroughs of New York. In parks, warehouses and literally on the corner of the block. The records created for the block parties were the pioneering 12”s. They came from the early independant labels who were there as it happened and ignighted a generation. Travelling all over the world, Dimitri (an avid record collector) found fellow crate diggers in all four corners. One such record collector was Muro, one of Japan's first hip hop DJs and a former disciple of DJ Krush. As a pioneering hip hop DJ, Muro has helped make the genre a huge part of the youth culture of his country and counts legends such as DJ Shadow amongst his fans. It is hip hop, in its infancy, that also got Dimitri into DJing... Muro went on to become Japan's most respected hip hop producers and DJ and Dimitri stayed locked in the old school disco grooves that became the foundation of house music. Although the two DJs were speaking different tongues, they definitely bonded musically, and started exchanging references and records. And now, Dimitri & Muro have teamed up to bring us some blockparty gems. Focusing on the origins of dance music as we know it today -THE BREAKS- which indeed is what led them to become both DJs and friends. Muro's selection "The Foundation" brings back many lost block party classics, whereas Dimitris "The Underdogs" showcases the ones that got away. Without pioneers like Kool DJ Herc, Grand Wizard Theodore, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmixer DST, Grandmaster Flash, Charlie Chase and many others we wouldn't be able to present you this collection today.
