“Down and Out” unlike “Regret” is symphonic with its electric violin intro followed by a sharp vocal and harsh guitar lick as it grabs you by the throat. But it then slows down and goes into a four-part harmony going back an forth from hard to inspiring. It reminds this critic of Evanescence or Seether with its introduction of classical meets hard rock which is atypical in most modern rock groups from The West. We see more progression from Tantric as they give us a blues-inspired track with “Wishing.” It sounds almost like early Doors with its velvety vocals and rockin’ chord structures. They hit power ballad status on “Something Better” as its very pretty with soft tones, acoustic modes and a brooding lyric that brings back memories of the early ‘90s.

Tantric returns to that same smoky blues thing on the title track. It almost sounds like Southern rock as well with its heavy chords, fiddle picking on the violin and slamming fretting patterns. It’s not too melancholic, nor is it too angry. “The One” finishes off this disc with that classic Tantric sound as it’s soulful; yet aggressively so much full of rock and roll. They’ve returned to the forefront of alternative rock with The End Begins and hopefully this isn’t what this title suggests. besser geschlossen geblieben wäre, bin ich dennoch froh, dass Frontiers Records die Herren von White Lion mit entsprechenden Leckerlies aus ihrer Gruft locken konnten, denn „Return of the Pride“ macht definitiv Laune und lässt das geneigte Hard Rock Herz vor Freude hüpfen!ich. Auf "Fury & Flames" dominieren ganz klar Blastbeats, und zwar in jeder nur erdenklichen Form. Die traditionelle Blast-Spielweise wird ebenso bedient, wie unbarmherziges Doublebass-Gehämmer der Marke CANNIBAL CORPSE auf Speed. Apropos CANNIBAL CORPSE: Niemand geringeres als Kannibalen-Basser Alex Webster bedient auf "Fury & Flames" die vier Saiten und ersetzt somit den 2006 verstorbenen Jared Anderson. An der zweiten Axt hat sich Rutan seinen alten Kumpel Shaune Kelley geholt, der ihm schon zu seligen RIPPING-CORPSE-Zeiten zur Seite stand. Dass wir demnach im Falle HATE ETERNAL auch jetzt im Jahre 2008 von qualitativ hochkarätiger Todesmusik sprechen, dürfte somit außer Frage stehen.

Auf dem Album wird geprügelt, bis sämtliche Adern im Hirn platzen, bis jeder Muskel im Körper vor Anspannung reißt und man als Hörer nur noch unkontrollierten, spastischen Zuckungen ausgeliefert ist. Die Hölle auf Erden wird hier einmal mehr zelebriert.
