MENDEED is a Glasgow based Metal act created in mid 2000 by singer David Proctor, guitarists Steph Gildea and Steven Nixon, bassist Chris Lavery and drummer Kevin Matthews. A brace of EPs, 'Killing Something Beautiful' through Casket Records, and 'As We Rise', emerged in 2003. At this juncture MENDEED performed distinctly Nu-Metal styled Rock, taking on live work supporting the likes of FONY, DEVOLVED and VACANT STARE. A change in style ensued toward melodic Death Metal / Metalcore and notably future official biographies neglected to mention the band's earlier works. 'Killing Something Beautiful' was recorded at Philia Studios with producer Dave Chang in November 2002.
Much of 2003 would be spent traversing the UK supporting the likes of CHARGER, MY RUIN, PITCHSHIFTER, 8 FOOT SATIVA and ANTHRAX, raising their profile higher with a valuable Radio One Rock Show session. Signing to Rising Records in December 2003, MENDEED's first product in their re-vamped format would be the 2004 Rising Records 'Ignite The Flames' single. A September 2004 mini-album, 'From Shadows Came Darkness', featured a guesting Sarah Jezebel Deva of CRADLE OF FILTH and ANGTORIA repute aiding on vocals.
A further EP, 'Act Of Sorrow' cut at New Rising Studios, Essex with producer Mark Daghorn, arrived in May 2005, promoted by an opening slot with CRADLE OF FILTH in April then gigs supporting AMEN. In September the band did the UK rounds once again, this time partnering DRAGONFORCE.
The band played their part in honouring METALLICA, contributing their rendition of 'The Thing That Should Not Be' to the album 'Remastered', this set being a complete remake of 'Master Of Puppets' in joint celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the classic album's release and the 25th anniversary of UK Rock magazine Kerrang! MENDEED's status rose rapidly with supports to ANTHRAX, CRADLE OF FILTH, SLIPKNOT, TRIVIUM, BLEEDING THROUGH and SHADOWS FALL. The band also opened for FEAR FACTORY on five European shows.
A debut album, 'This War Will Last Forever' produced by Mark Daghorn, was signed to Germany's Nuclear Blast Records for June 2006 release. UK editions issued on Rising Records sported different cover art. The band put in a significant appearance at the GUNS N' ROSES headlined 'Download' festival in Castle Donington, UK on June 11th. UK shows in early October saw support from KINGSIZE BLUES and SOLITUDE.
Further high profile European gigs saw MENDEED announced as support to SLAYER's October 'Unholy Alliance' dates.
