Takida's latest album 'Bury the lies' has a slightly different sound to their previous release. It has a more 80's hard rock influence - this most noticeably comes across in the reverb saturated drums. The song writing and song structures are still very similar, and follow an up-tempo 'Nickelback' sort of style. In parts, the vocals sound a little like Scott Stapp (formerly of Creed), expecially in the lower range. This is a solid album, but in my opinion drops away a little in the second half. The first 5 tracks are easily worth 4 stars or more. The one song that really drags this album down, in my opinion, is Curly Sue. Some people will like this song, but to me it sounds forced, unconvincing, far too typical, and the lyrics are cheesy and lame. But as i said, this is my opinion and those of you that like it, please dont take it to heart. A bit more creativity, and originality would also have improved this album. It annoys me when you can hear the talent in the musicians, yet they dont really show it. In summary, as i said earlier this is a good album, and if you are in to hard rock with post grunge influences then you will probably like this album.
