Lynn Allers (vocals), Curtis Morrell (guitar), Mark Hanson (guitar), Dustin Mitchell (bass), Matt Suiter (drums)
Progressive Power Metal out of the Salt Lake Valley of Utah. The band was formulated during 1999 by founders ex-ARBITAROR guitarist Curtis Morrell and the VIVID IMAGE and MALEVOLENCE veteran bassist Dustin Mitchell, adding another VIVID IMAGE and MALEVOLENCE veteran Matt Suiter on drums with erstwhile ARBITRATOR man Ryan Taylor on second guitar. Completing the line up would be the TANIS credited Lynn Allers on lead vocals. The band released the debut self financed album 'Present Day', distributed by Nightmare Records and recorded the previous year at Morrel's own Streamline Sound Studios, during 2001. Live work saw gigs in union with OMEN, SEVEN WITCHES and ANVIL.
Ryan Taylor bowed out leaving the band as a quartet. KATAGORY V had a new album, 'A New Breed Of Rebellion', readied for 2002 issue through MetalAges Records. Trevor Asire was hired as second guitarist in January 2003. Gigs outside of Utah included shows with MELIAH RAGE and NASTY SAVAGE along with an appearance at the Atlanta 'Progpower' festival pre-party showcase sharing the stage with PRYMARY and STRIDE. However, Trevor Asire departed prior to the release of 'A New Breed Of Rebellion' in January 2004, being replaced by Marc Hanson.
KATAGORY V would spend October of 2004 crafting a new album with producer Mike Fowkes bearing the working title 'The Rising Anger'. In September the following year the band announced that 'The Rising Anger' would be released through Nightmare Records.
KATAGORY V bassist Dustin Mitchell temped for veteran Rockers RIOT for their 28th January 2006 show in Salt Lake City, Utah when regular four-stringer Pete Perez suffered an accident putting him out of contention for the show. Early 2007 found the group working on a new album given a working title of 'Hymns IOf Dissension'.
