ROADSTAR, based in southern England and signed by esteemed A&R guru John Kalodner, previously operated as HURRICANE PARTY. Under this title an EP, 'Get This', saw issue in the summer of 2004 through Sanctuary Records. Band roster comprised singer Steve, guitarists Robin Hirshfield and ex-PHOENIX EMPIRE man Jonny Rocker, Rob Randell on bass, another ex-PHOENIX EMPIRE member, with Chris Rivers, ex-KRANIUM, on drums. Steve performed his last gig with HURRICANE PARTY on July 10th 2003 at London's Borderline venue. The band briefly employed singer Cherry but debuted another new line-up in October fronted by Pontypridd native Richie Hevanz.
In October 2005 the group, in response to the devasatation caused by Hurricane Katrina, changed the band title to ROADSTAR.
From there on the group engaged in an exhaustive road campaign befitting their new name, supporting the likes of THE DARKNESS, NICKELBACK, STATUS QUO, MEAT LOAF, SKID ROW and EUROPE. The group also put in festival dates sharing stages with BLACK SABBATH, LINKIN PARK and METALLICA.
The band formed up a three band billing for UK touring in January 2006 supporting THUNDER and former LITTLE ANGELS frontman TOBY JEPSON. ROADSTAR's debut album, 'Grand Hotel' released in March 2006 through JVC Victor in Japan, was titled after a particularly unsalubrious hotel the band had discovered on the road in Scarborough. The album was produced by manager Laurie Mansworth, former guitarist with MORE and AIRRACE, and mixed by Kevin Shirley. Aiming for a deliberately retro-Rock sound ROADSTAR employed cabs owned by the ROLLING STONES, a Les Paul guitar owned by THE CULT's Billy Duffy and keyboards belonging to Ray Manzarak of THE DOORS. Having lost their deal with Sanctuary, the band issued ;'Grand Hotel' on their own Magic Hat label in May.
On June 3rd the group opened proceedings at the DEEP PURPLE, ALICE COOPER and JOURNEY headlined 'Monsters Of Rock' festival then opened for QUEENSRYCHE the following day. Guitarist Robin Hirschfield exited shortly afterward, being replaced by 18 year old Andy Glover.
