Italian Gothic Black Metal outfit that lyrically rely heavily on the folklore and myth of the South Tyrolean landscapes of the Austro- Italian border areas. The sophomore GRAVEWORM release 'Under The Crescent Moon' contains a version of HELLOWEEN's 'How Many Tears’ and a guest vocal appearance by CRADLE OF FILTH backing vocalist Sarah Jezebel Diva. Guitarist Harald Kenkel would depart during August 1999. GRAVEWORM toured Europe appearing on festival billings including the 'Wacken Open Air' in Germany. October 1999 saw the band engaging in the "Infernal Gods Of War" European tour alongside MYSTIC CIRCLE, SUIDAKRA and STORMLORD. GRAVEWORM would also ally themselves with SIEBENBURGEN for touring. In January 2000 drummer Martin Innerbichler loaned himself out to MYSTIC CIRCLE for session tour work.

The 'Scourge Of Malice' album arrived in January 2001. Many critics would pick up on the band's inspired cover rendition of IRON MAIDEN's 'Fear Of The Dark', notable for transposing the original lead guitar solos into a keyboard showcase for Sabine Mair. Following the issue of the fourth album GRAVEWORM cut a version of TYPE O NEGATIVE's 'Christian Woman' for a tribute album. Bass player Didi Schraffi would make his exit in August of 2001.

In April of 2002 Stefan Fiori announced that, whilst maintaining ties with GRAVEWORM, he had joined ABIGOR as their new lead vocalist. GRAVEWORM's 2003 album, the Andy Classen produced 'Engraved In Black', would contain a cover version of 'Losing My Religion' originally by R.E.M. GRAVEWORM lost the services of guitarist Stefan Unterpertinger in August, switching Lukas from bass to cover the vacancy. Filling the bass position would be ex-member Harald Kenkel. Meantime singer Stefan Fiori joined up with Austrian act SHADOWCAST on a temporary basis, filling in for live work.

GRAVEWORM would be confirmed as forming up part of the 'X-Mass Festivals' European tour commencing in London on December 7th, making up a strong billing incorporating DESTRUCTION, AMON AMARTH, NILE, DEICIDE, DEW-SCENTED, MISERY INDEX and DISBELIEF.

The band lost the services of drummer Martin Innerbichler in early 2004, the former sticksman opting out to of music to prioritise "growing static buildings." Replacing him would be the much travelled Austrian Moritz Neuner, a veteran of SIEGFRIED, ANGIZIA, NECROLOGY, ANGRY ANGELS, ABIGOR, DARKWELL, SHADOWCAST, KOROVA, EVENFALL and DORNENREICH. Summer gigs included showings at Germany's 'Up From The Ground', 'Welcome Goodbye' and 'Party.San Open Air' festivals and the Czech 'Brutal Assault' event amongst others. GRAVEWORM entered Stage One studios in Bühne, Germany in September to craft a new album '(N)utopia' for Nuclear Blast. The band undertook European package tour dates allied with KATAKLYSM, MYSTIC CIRCLE and INTO ETERNITY in October.

Neuner joined veteran German act ATROCITY in January 2005, subsequently enrolling into LEAVES' EYES. Throughout March and April the group undertook European touring packaged with FINNTROLL and AMORAL. Further European dates in April 2005 had the band allied with ENSIFERUM and COMMUNIC prior to gigs in June packaged with KATAKLYSM and EMINENCE. European headliners set for October and November was to see support from NOISE FOREST, MIDWINTER and BITTERNESS. However, the band withdrew from these shows, citing "health problems" with singer Stefan Fiori.

GRAVEWORM were included the 'Metal Crusaders' North American tour, set to take place in May and June 2006 alongside KATAKLYSM, VADER, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, SPEED\KILL/HATE and THE ABSENCE. The group entered Stage One studios in Borgentreich, Germany on January 6th 2007 with producer Andy Classen to record its sixth album. Live work to capitalise on this release included Russian shows in St. Petersburg and Moscow in April.
