First picking up a guitar at the age of ten years old, Florida native STAN BUSH relocated to Colorado and quickly found himself a firm part of Denver act BOULDER in a singer / guitarist role. Inking a deal with Elektra BOULDER released a solitary, self-titled album before the band quickly disbanded after four members hit the road backing up WARREN ZEVON, prompting Stan to go solo.
Signing to Columbia, Bush released an eponymously titled debut record produced by Kevin Beamish and cut with a studio band involving keyboard player Alan Pasqua, bassist Dennis Belfield and ex-AIRBORNE drummer Mike Baird. All three would be involved with VAN STEPHENSON’s ‘Righteous Anger’ album released a year later. Ironically, both albums include a version of the song 'All American Boy', a number written by Van Stephenson.
Bush was involved in recording songs for the soundtrack to the 1986 movie ‘The Transformers’, contributing ‘The Touch’ and ‘Dare’ to the album.
‘The Touch' had originally been submitted for inclusion on the soundtrack to the Sylvestor Stallone movie ‘Cobra’ but had not been selected.
Meantime, Stan had also been busy recording a brand new album with former KISS producer Richie Wise and put together a band that became known as STAN BUSH AND BARRAGE. This group comprised of erstwhile BLACK ROSE guitarist Rocket Richotte, bassist Mike Seafrit, keyboard player Rick Seratte and drummer Pat Torpey. The latter would, of course, achieve greater fame within the ranks of MR. BIG.
The group’s eponymous debut was unleashed in 1987 to positive reaction from both press and fans alike, although it failed to make the major breakthrough Bush and (especially) the label had hoped for.
After BARRAGE broke up Bush hooked up with ex TANÉ CAIN and TED NUGENT man Dave Amato, drummer Bryan Hitt and bassist Matt Bissonette in AMBUSH. Both Amato and Hitt would later join REO SPEEDWAGON.
At the same time as AMBUSH Bush worked on a project with FOREIGNER’s guitarist MICK JONES, having auditioned for the vacant front man’s spot in FOREIGNER following LOU GRAMM's departure. Nothing came of either liaison, although the song ‘Every Beat Of My Heart’ (featured on Stan’s comeback album) had originally been recorded with Matt Bissonette, his brother Greg and keyboard player Brett Tuggle who were all in DAVID LEE ROTH’s band at the time. Ironically, Rocket Richotte was a member of Roth’s group during 1989 with this trio.
For the release of his Now And Then issued album, ‘Every Beat Of My Heart’ Bush wrote with JONATHON CAIN of THE BABYS /JOURNEY / BAD ENGLISH, Jim Vallance and even AXE leader BOBBY BARTH.
The Japanese released 1996 record ‘Higher Than Angels’ finds Bush working with KISS main man PAUL STANLEY on the song writing front.
1996’s ‘The Child Within’ sees Bush working in the studio with vocalist ROBIN BECK, ex-DAVID LEE ROTH band drummer Gregg Bissonette, former KEEL and COLD SWEAT guitarist MARC FERRARI and ALICE COOPER and WINGER keyboard player Paul Taylor. Songwriting is aided once more by Stanley.
The 1997 Japanese release album ‘Call To Action’ features guests guitarist Ferrari, keyboardist Taylor, JOURNEY’s ivory tinkler JONATHON CAIN and ex-DRAGON and JETHRO TULL drummer Doane Perry.
Bush's return to action in 2001 found the man working with producer Curt Cuomo. The band assembled for 'Language Of The Heart' was up to the singer's usual pedigree citing AMERICA drummer Tom Walsh, EDDIE MONEY bassist Trent Stoh and JOHN WAITE guitarist Don Kirkpatrick. Cuomo would co-write much of the material as well as contributing keyboards.
The June 2004 opus, 'Shine', released by Frontiers Records in Europe and Nippon Crown in Japan, saw Bush working in the studio noted session guitar player Tim Pierce, bass player Matt Bissonette, Curt Cuomo on keyboards and drummer Kenny Aronoff. Former AIRPLAY singer Tommy Funderburk aided on backing vocals.
Bush contributed his song writing talents to ex-UNRULY CHILD singer PHILIP BARDOWELL's 20 ! 2007-03-18 16:13:55.000
