Arkansas Sludge merchants RWAKE have been active on the live front since 1996. Several sets of demos and appearances on compilation albums led to the 2002 debut album 'Hell Is A Door To The Sun' for Retribute Records. Initially billed as WAKE the group cut three tracks 'Adado', 'Nebula' and 'Insestial Deism' for the 1998 compilation 'Frozen Dream 4'. Re-billed as RWAKE the opening demo, issued in November of 1998, would be entitled 'Xenoglossalgia:The Last Stage Of Awareness'. Working with TODAY IS THE DAY's Steve Austin the group crafted the December 1999 sessions 'Absence Due To Projection'. However, these tracks would never be released although a Steve Austin produced track, 'Piss And Shit', did emerge on the Berserker compilation 'South Of Hell' in 2001.
An exhaustive live schedule to push the inaugural offering 'Hell Is A Door To The Sun' bolstered the band's nationwide appeal prior to entering Volume Studios in Chicago with producer Sanford Parker in March of 2004 to craft the follow up. 'If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die' arrived in July through At A Loss Recordings. In 2004 the band also contributed the track 'The Sloth' to the SAINT VITUS tribute album 'A Timeless Tale' put together by RavenMoon Records.
RWAKE signed to Relapse Records in 2006. Working with producer Sanford Parker the band cut album tracks in October at Electrical Audio and Volume Studios.
