COSMO is a band assembled by BOSTON lead vocalist Fran Cosmo and his son, Antonio Cosmo, also citing BOSTON experience having contributed songs to the 'Corporate America' album and having toured with the band in 2003 and 2004. Fran Cosmo had formatively worked with BOSTON guitarist Barry Goudreau fronting his ORION THE HUNTER project.
Following the successful ORION THE HUNTER outing, UFO and SCORPIONS guitarist MICHAEL SCHENKER contacted Fran Cosmo during 1984 to compose material with the intentions of forming a new group. They would be joined by Bruce Smith, bassist from ORION THE HUNTER, and British guitarist Roland Jones. Songwriting sessions at the Mayflower Hotel and rehearsals at S.I.R. Studios in New York produced a demo that was recorded in MOTT THE HOOPLE vocalist Ian Hunter's studio. However, this line-up disbanded after approximately six months. Subsequently Fran and Antonio Cosmo forged the first incarnation of COSMO, involving New York musicians Mick Brooks on guitar, Bill Carman on bass and Tom Moonan on drums.
The fledgling COSMO was interrupted by Tom Scholz's call fro Fran Cosmo to join BOSTON for the album 'Walk On'. Two further BOSTON records featuring Cosmo followed, being joined by Antonio Cosmo for BOSTON's fifth album 'Corporate America'. COSMO was then re-assembled with a fresh cast involving BOSTON bassist Bill Carman, keyboard player Mick Brooks and drummer Pat Orlowski. The 'Alien' album was issued in December 2006 through the Italian label Frontiers Records.
