Hinweise
The Aznach Ensemble is composed of Chechnyan women from the Pankissi valley in Georgia. Their community, doubled by recent events, settled in
Georgia in the early nineteenth century.
This third opus in the Ethnomad series presents sacred and secular songs, mostly about the unhappiness of war, with some love songs as well.
Rather than the more recent style of Grozny, the influence of the style of the mountain dwellers is clear in this magnificent polyphonic performance by the
Aznach Ensemble. Singing, traditionally a female activity, is preponderant in their concerts.

Since 1995 the ensemble has taken part in many festivals in Georgia, Turkey, France and Switzerland (Geneva, where this recording was made).

The result is bewitching,, and full of feeling. Laurent Aubert was really taken by this music.
