Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus a/k/a Junior Boys release their
sophomore full length, So This Is Goodbye, September 12th on Domino
Records. So This Is Goodbye follows up the Canadian duo's 2004
debut, Last Exit.
Advance notice for So This Is Goodbye has been even stronger. "In
The Morning," which was recently issued as a double A-side with
another album track "The Equaliser."
So This Is Goodbye is full of pleasant surprises, such as Last
Exit's stop-start stutter beats giving way to pop-infused House
references on the title track and the arpeggiated synth lines that
drive many tracks throughout. However, the album sounds nothing
like House, nor like previous attempts to synthesize pop with
House. Later in the record, "Like A Child" and "Caught In A Wave"
crest then give way to the balladic one-two closing of the Boys'
cover of Sinatra's "When No One Cares" and "FM," which would have
been equally at home on Junior Boys' own Last Exit as on, say,
OMD's Architecture & Morality.
