Hinweise”Faya” is the second solo album from Sweden’s leading alt-country singer/songwriter Christian Kjellvander and follows the 2002 breakthrough debut “Songs From A Two-Room Chapel”.
After a number of albums with his band Loosegoats and an acclaimed album made together with his brother Gustaf under the project name Songs of Soil, the debut was released in the fall of 2002. The success that followed was not immediate but steadily grew after Grammi nominations, various TV appearances and a tour that seemingly never ended. He returned to the same towns more than just a few times and each time the venues were larger and new faces joined in the enthralled audiences.
The Songs tour finally ended in the fall of 2003 with a string of concert hall shows with a full band including a string section.
Then there was silence…Christian spent this period traveling – he went back to the US where he lived for a good part of his childhood. Here, writing parts of the new album, playing the odd solo shows as well as opening up for The Cardigans. During this time many parts of the world discovered his astonishing debut and the album was released in the UK, France, Germany – and upon his return from the US he returned for live work….and all of a sudden three years had already passed.
The wait is finally over…!
The new album is recorded in an old school in Skåne in Sweden’s South. It has been mixed by Craig Schumacher (Giant Sand, Calexico etc) who came to the Skåne to polish the rough diamond. -- Startracks
