Multi-Million Selling Global Superstars Eurythmics Back Together
for the First Time in 5 Years
19-Songs Feature Nearly Every U.S. and UK Hit, Plus Two Newly
Recorded Songs: "I've Got A Life" and "Was It Just Another Love
Affair?"
25 years after Eurythmics were formed in London by Annie Lennox
and Dave Stewart in late-1980, EURYTHMICS ULTIMATE COLLECTION
celebrates their glorious string of hit singles in the U.S. and
the UK, songs that continue to resonate with their legions of
fans on every continent.
Clocking in with a generous 19 tracks, framed by two previously
unreleased titles - the opening track and forthcoming single,
"I've Got A Life" and the closing "Was It Just Another Love
Affair?" - the new CD will arrive in stores November 8th on
Arista Records.
"Eurythmics are true originals who are as electrifying today as
when they first startled the world in 1980. Their new record
'I've Got A Life' is as strong as any of their vintage classics
all of which are now part of their new album 'Ultimate
Eurythmics'. This album clearly shows why Eurythmics are
timeless and peerless," says Clive Davis, Chairman, BMG U.S.
"I've Got A Life" will go to AC radio on October 17th. An
instant classic, "I've Got A Life" is as pioneering and
anthemic as "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)", "Who's That
Girl?", or "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With my Heart)".
"Annie and I didn't plan to go in the studio, she was staying
with me in Los Angeles and we seemed to spontaneously write
and record some songs. It was just like the old days, songs
coming at lightning speed and recorded and mixed in a week! I
think they are Eurythmics Classics," says Dave Stewart.
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart have sold over 75 million
records and had over 20 international hits worldwide. They have
achieved unparalleled global, commercial and critical success
with No.1 singles and albums both sides of the Atlantic. On top
of the sold out world tours, Eurythmics have won innumerable
awards including 4 Grammy's, 5 prestigious Ivor Novello's, over
10 Brit Awards including the Outstanding Contribution to the
British Music in 1998, and won the very first Best New Artist
award at MTV's Video Music Awards in 1984. At this year's
Golden Globe Awards, Stewart won "Best Original Song (with Mick
Jagger) for "Old Habits Die Hard," while Lennox won an Academy
Award and a Golden Globe in 2004 for Best Original song, "Into
The West," (with Howard Shore and Fran Walsh).
Eurythmics played a large part in shaping the landscape of 80's
and 90's music. The influence spreads wider than being innovators
of the synth pop genre they are often credited for. Their songs
have been pillaged by the biggest names in music; P.Diddy,
Marilyn Manson, Utah Saints, Redman (Wu Tang), Faith Evans, Pink,
amongst others. This doesn't include the unofficial usage that's
gladly unavoidable within the dance and hip hop genre - just this
summer Ibiza has been lit up with several huge versions of "Sweet
Dreams (Are Made Of This)," a record first made in 1983.
You just have to look through the track listing of EURYTHMICS
ULTIMATE COLLECTION to remember the impact these classics had.
This album is a tribute to why they are revered as seminal. With
strong and intelligent pop songs; "There Must Be An Angel
(Playing With My Heart)" and "Here Comes The Rain Again" which
are hallmarks of the duo. While "Sisters Are Doing It For
Themselves" showcases Annie Lennox's powerful and expressive
voice.
On "Who's that Girl?" and "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" Dave
Stewart's innovative production techniques are as fresh today as
they were on their first release. This album is a must have in
any music collection, offering some of the most significant
