Computerbrains CCS64 v3.5

Release: Computerbrains CCS64 v3.5

Computerbrains CCS64 v3.5
Inhaltsangabe

CCS64 is a Commodore 64 Emulator for PC and also in the future other
platforms. It was developed by me Per Hkan Sundell as my Master Thesis at
my university in 1995 and have been expanded a lot since then. My personal
interest in the C64 has been very intensive since 1983 when I was spending
nearly all my time with it and I was deeply involved in the so called
Scene. When I later in 1987 bought my Amiga 500 I missed the old good times
I had with my C64 and since then I have tried my very best to make all the old
programs to work on my new machines. One of my first attempts was to resurrect
the old C64 music the famous SID chip. In 1990 I and Ron Birk released a demo
called 100 most remembered C64 tunes which was very popular and in 1991 we
released the very first tool for Amiga called PlaySID which later inspired a
lot of similar programs on other platforms.

CCS64 is a program that runs on your PC that turns your computer into an old
Commodore 64 computer. This means that the program simulates or rather
emulates the old computer enabling you to run most of the old software you
had for that old machine running it just like it would in the past. Of course
there are some small differences compared to the real thing but my goal has
been to minimize the differences as much as it is possible.

Facts

CCS64 emulates briefly the following things of an old C64 system

The main Commodore 64 console with the keyboard and peripherals like
joysticks paddles and mouse. It emulates both the different systems sold in
Europe as well as the USA. Up to four 1541 disk-drives are emulated (which
means that you use special files on your PC as a replacement for the old 5
1/4 inch floppy disks) The C2N cassette recorder is also emulated (which means
the you use special files on your PC as a replacement for the old magnetic
tapes) Many of the old cartridges (that means special hardware expansions for
the C64 which were plugged in at the back of the computer) are also emulated.

Changes in v3.5

- FIX Setting the Tape Motor on/off doesnt work properly. When CCS64 re
-sets the tape re-winds automatically back to the beginning (which it
shouldnt do because there is usually another game to load after the one
loaded before). The Play button works but the Motor button stays locked to
off (so the Tape Counter cannot be changed manually).

- FIX After the conversion group introduction in the game Beyond The Ice
Palace / HF a CPU Halted At 0005 error occurs.

- FIX There are some strange bugs/flickers in TRC+TBI Introduction (1990).
More information If you remove the music (JSR 1003) it works... it seems to
be a D011 80 problem... it seems to be waiting for the raster-line that
happens with Bit 7 set on the emulator... and that line has already passed by
the music.

- FIX When the Palette is set to PAL and the Graphics Filter is set to either
Anti-Alias or Scale CCS64 crashes with an Access Violation fault.

- FIX When using the screen-shot functions in CCS64 V3 an image file of only
one frame is produced whether the graphic being captured is interlaced or
non-interlaced. Did the 256-Colour Screen-Shot function in CCS64 V2.0 BETA
always mix two consecutive frames together irrespective of the graphics
involved

- FIX With the Joystick Special menu users can tweak which input is
interpreted as the different Joystick actions.
